gmt014  deleted 1961 and shifted everthing over 1 (as if it was absent in the core) - series now ends at 1985, not 1986 like it should

However, the correlation is 0.29A - no better fit!!!    This is because it was at the end of the series and with a 50 year moving window it couldn't pick up the best fit, because part of the series dated ok (<1961).   You do notice that the rings that decrease the correlation most are all > 1967, which gives you an idea of where to look.
