- The Institute for the Study of Planet Earth (ISPE)
- has an important in global change research and teaching at the University
of Arizona (e.g., organizing a seminar series); it has close connections
to the Laboratory of Tree Ring research, not least because its director,
Lisa Graumlich, is also one of the Laboratory's faculty members.

- is involved in several of the research projects at the Laboratory,
noteably those measuring stable isotope concentrations in dated wood samples.

- has several research and teaching connections with the Laboratory;
tree-ring records are imporatant for modelling rainfall and stream flow records
before the period of recorded measurements.
