The class will be driven by student interest, and will include the following topics:
- time and space
- clocks and calendars
- time scales
- human perceptions of time
- relative and absolute time
- tree ring dates
- error/ring counting vs. dendrochronology
- chronology building
- absolute vs. floating chronologies
- calibration of time scales
- other dating methods
- conflicts of dendrochronology with other dates
- case studies
- student presentations.
