GEOS595E DENDROCHRONOLOGY COLLOQUIUM FALL 1999 CALL # 61365 3 hour credit, meeting Monday and Wednesday 1:00-3:00 p.m. Instructors: Charles W. Stockton and David Meko Time Series Analysis for Dendrochronology and Other Environmental and Earth Sciences This is a basic course in the application of time series statistical techniques to tree-ring data and other geophysical series. Module 1 will include basic exploratory analysis with (emphasis on graphical methods), determination of autocorrelation function, and sample spectrum. Module II will address basic modeling techniques for univariate and mutivariate time series, including ARIMA modeling and multiple linear regression in a time series context. Module III will focus on spatial analysis of multiple time series, including principal components analysis and methods of climate reconstruction using spatial networks of tree-ring data.
