During Jan. 28-Feb.13, 2011, Tucson Gem and Mineral Show and other mineral/fossil/gem shows (about 43 in number) are at the Convention Center and various motels, tents and venues around town, including near I-10. By clicking on the link in the previous line, you can get information about all of the shows.
This culminates with the official Tucson Gem and Mineral Show (Tucson Gem and Mineral Society), which specifically runs from Feb. 10-13 at the Tucson Convention Center.

For EC, visit a Dealer or Display that is showing something you find interesting and somehow related to topics in our global change class (for example the mineral or ore of an element that is important to our society or to sustainable solutions, banded iron formations, the origin of life, the origin of the atmosphere, fossils and the evolution of life, extinctions, etc.  NOTE: bead and jewelry shows will not usually fit this qualification). Write up a 1- page, double-spaced, typed summary of what you saw, why it impressed you, and how it is related to the Earth system or global change. If it is a dealer, provide the name of the dealer and his/her location; if it was a display provide info on its location, who sponsored it and who was there representing it.
