HOW TO CONTACT THE LTRR

The Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research is a division of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arizona, conveniently located near the center of Tucson, Arizona. The LTRR is still located on the west side of Arizona Stadium, where the Arizona football team plays its home games. They've been in the stadium since 1937, and it looks like they'll be there for more years to come. There are various ways to contact them. I suggest you first try using e-mail using their internet addresses that are available under the personnel listings. A listing of phone numbers is also available below, and please keep in mind that the area code for southern Arizona has recently changed to "520." Their fax number is 520.621.8229. Groups can arrange to be given a guided tour of the Laboratory: contact Rex Adams at 520.621.2414 or radams@ltrr.arizona.edu if you are interested. The alb also maintains an anonymous FTP server, but this will not work with some client programs, including several popular Web browsers (however many of the files are available through both systems). You can use this FTP site to exchange files with people here: you can collect the files they leave in the OUTGOING directory, and deposit your own files in the INCOMING directory (but will not then be able to see or alter them).

If you plan on visiting Tucson for any reason, be sure to browse through the Tucson internet directory to learn more about Tucson. You'll definitely want to visit such famous attractions as the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum (one of the finest museums in the world) and, of course, Old Tucson, the site where many old western movies were shot. To get to the LTRR if you are:

traveling by car along Interstate-10 West (from New Mexico):

Upon entering the Tucson city limits from the south, you will eventually pass exits for Park Avenue, then St. Marys. Take the St. Marys exit, and turn right to travel east on St Marys. You are only about 1.5 miles from the LTRR at this point. After crossing Stone, St. Marys turns into 6th Street. You will pass streets such as 4th Avenue, Euclid, and Park Avenue. Soon you will see the Arizona Stadium looming on the horizon on the left side of the street; don't confuse it with the high school football stadium that you'll pass on your right. After passing a street called Highland, slow down, and enter the parking lot right before the stadium, which will take you to the LTRR. The LTRR is under the bleachers on the west side of the stadium, where you are currently located. The door to the Main Office is located towards the north end under the bleachers.
traveling by car along Interstate-10 East (actually traveling south from Phoenix):

Upon entering the Tucson city limits from the north, you will eventually pass exits for Miracle Mile, Grants Road, and Speedway, then St. Marys. Take the St. Marys exit, and turn left to travel east on St Marys. Follow the same directions as given above when traveling along St. Marys, which turns into 6th Street.
arriving at the airport:

Exit the airport, and you'll be heading north on Tucson Boulevard. Cross over Valencia, then continue heading north until you encounter Irvington, which you will cross over. Now you'll be on the Old Benson Highway heading northwest. Take a right on Kino Parkway and head north again, crossing over Interstate-10. Continue north on Kino, which will then turn into Campbell Avenue. Cross over 22nd Street, then Broadway, and take a left heading west at the next street, which is 6th Street. You'll see the football stadium. Go past the football stadium, and turn into the first parking lot on your right. See the directions for finding the LTRR in the stadium in the first paragraph above.
