GLOBAL CHANGE RESEARCH AT THE U OF A:

View podcasts of the UA College of Science Global Change Lecture Series  Fall 2006.

Global Change research is carried out in numerous units throughout the University of Arizona. The best place to identify the full range of global change researchers on campus is the ISPE site:  Institute for the Study of Planet Earth (ISPE)    ISPE is the UA's institute for "Providing an Interdisciplinary Framework for Addressing Global Environmental Questions."

Also learn about the CLIMAS project which integrates science, policy, and community issues related to climate variability in the Southwest.

The Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research
In 1937, the scientific study of tree-rings in America was formalized by the creation of the Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research (LTRR) here at the University of Arizona in Tucson.  The LTRR has become a world leader in the use of  tree rings to study global change.

STRATOSPHERIC OZONE DEPLETION

  • NASA's Ozone Hole Watch website

  • NASA TOMS Site -- TOMS stands for Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer.  This is the site from which one can monitor the Antarctic Ozone hole and ozone concentration levels throughout the world.  Look here to see "today's" global and regional ozone distribution as well as the ozone levels for dates in the past.

  • Ozone Overhead Site
Find the total column ozone amount over your house (or anywhere else) using data from NASA's Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) on the Aura spacecraft. Just enter the date, latitude, and longitude you want.
